Jennifer Syvertsen, PhD, MPH (Board Chair)
Jennifer is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at the University of California, Riverside, who has conducted research on drug use and related health and social issues in Mexico, Kenya, and the United States. She is affiliated with the Center for Health Disparities Research at UCR, which is dedicated to fostering academic and community partnerships in support of community-engaged research to address health inequities in the Inland Empire.
Ale Cabral, MPH (Board Treasurer)
Ale is a PhD student in the Department of Community Health Sciences at the Fielding School of Public Health, UCLA.
Juan Landeros-Tavera, MPH (Board Member)
Juan Landeros-Tavera, MPH is a Program Coordinator with the County of Riverside Department of Public Health; Epidemiology and Program Evaluation branch. He received his bachelor’s degree in Socio-Cultural Anthropology from the University of California San Diego, and his Masters of Public Health from California State University San Bernardino. He has worked professionally with the LGBTQ community, active drug users, and the homeless population providing a variety of services and resources. Currently he is a part of Riverside County’s emergency response to the Covid-19 pandemic coordinating their contact tracing activities, as well as their Overdose Data to Action program. In his free time he enjoys hanging out with his wife and puppy, going to concerts, and playing music.
Desmond Young (Board Member)
Desmond is Director of Riverside Recovery Resources, a non-profit dedicated to building stronger families and communities by providing alcohol and drug prevention programs, intervention, education, and rehabilitation services.
